Perfect Microwave Oatmeal for One

"I used to fix myself hot oatmeal every day, even when I was working. I guess I'm lazier now, and not willing to clean that pot day after day. SO, after much trial and error, I figured out how to do it right in the ce4ereal bowl, in the microwave. Pre-loading single servings -- everything but the water -- into snack-size zip bags make this an even quicker way to have my oatmeal any day I want it."

  1. Not enough water!! This method with 1/2 c oatmeal requires 8 oz minimum. Tried the recipe as written...crunchy oats.

  2. This recipe is perfect - no more messy crockpot oatmeal. On a side note, the bowls in the IKEA dinner set, VÄRDERA worked perfect in the microwave for this recipe. No boil overs and the bowls do not get too hot for handling.

  3. Very good oatmeal recipe. I added 6 oz. of water, and still felt it needed more. That was the only thing I would change. I swapped out the raisins for chopped up prunes. The combination of cinnamon, a little bit of brown sugar and walnuts were so good.

  4. Great recipe, easy to follow and delicious! I skipped the nuts and swapped maple syrup for brown sugar. Will make often. Thanks!!

  5. I made this oatmeal for my son. He likes it with more brown sugar on top. He wanted more raisins and no nuts. That's a really great recipe that I'll do often even for myself but with pecans probably. Thanks Meredith :) Made for PAC Spring 2010
