Perfect Sugar Cookie Glaze

"I needed an easy glaze the hardened quickly (instead of over night like so many) but one that still had good flavor. This dries hard enough to stack the cookies. Note: Make one batch at a time. It's unmanageable in anything larger. Children's water color brushes or those used for painting chocolate molds work well. Make sure to put down wax paper or parchment paper on your work surface and prepare for messy kidlets. Originally found at All Recipes"

  1. It was amazing Thank you. It did indeed set quickly and just in time to serve too. I use this recipe with 'The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies' and omg the cookie wasn't that sweet and the icing took up for the sweetness. Everybody loved it, my classmates and my family. I even added 1/2 tsp - 1 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder to half of the icing and wow just wow I'm currently in Culinary School and I will DEFINITELY be using this again. Thank You so much. God Bless:)

  2. Loved this recipe. It was really easy, to make it turned out better than I thought it might. I did decrease the milk to 1 tablespoon, and used lemon extract instead of vanilla. I will make it again and again.

  3. This was my first time using a hard glaze for my sugar cookies. It was very easy and turned out so beautiful! I did follow one reviewers suggestion and used only 1 tbsp of milk instead of 2.

  4. I made this to drizzle over Recipe #340455 instead of rolling them in powdered sugar. I skipped the vanilla and used 2 tablespoons of the maraschino cherry juice as the liquid. It turned out great and had hardened within an hour.

  5. It was really good. Perfect for a drizzle, and hardened very quickly.

Tweaks

  1. Used honey instead of corn syrup (as it's not available here) and this still worked perfectly! Great smooth result when I dared to use enough - for some reason I often tried to skimp a little on the glaze, so the uneven surface on a few of the cookies in the pic are my fault entirely. I used the glaze on Recipe #465727 though, not sugar cookies, but this went SO well with the intensive chocolate cookie base. Thank you very much for sharing!

Until recently, I was a Specialist in the National Guard. I'm pretty eclectic in my studies and I've learned a lot becuase of that since I don't limit myself. Right now I'm taking classes for animal care. I've also been studying a lot about herbalism and really enjoy learning about that. My mother and I also run a home based business for natural soap, balms, etc. We use only the most the natural ingredients available. I'm also a Mary Kay consultant. Busy, huh? :D I love to read and learn new things. My husband says our books will be the death of us. LOL. I love to cook and experiment. I also like to take walks, rain or not.
