  • Cream honey, baking soda, brown sugar, butter and shortening. Blend in pepper, eggs, spices, and flour to form a stiff dough. Cover tightly and ripen in refrigerator 3 days. Roll out into cylinders about 1" in diameter. Cut into 1/2" pieces with a sharp knife. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 5-7 minutes at 350*. Roll in powdered sugar while warm. Note: You can also coat with a frosting made from 1 large egg white, 2 t. light corn syrup, 1/4 t. ground cardamom, and 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar.
