Pineapple Water

"When I was in Hawaii, the hotel I stayed in always had a large dispenser of this water in the lobby, to help rehydrate the guests after they spent too much time on the beach. I found it to be much more refreshing than plain water, as the fruit adds a very subtle sweet taste. A great recipe if you're trying to get more water into your diet. This will not taste like fruit juice, it's meant to be a very lightly flavored water. If you don't have a large drink dispenser, try making 1/2 recipe in a sun tea jar."

  1. What a great idea this is! I used pineapple slices in the bottom of a pitcher and filled it up with water and ice. This was really refreshing and a nice change from lemon water. Great for a nice warm day. Thanks Ingrid for a nice treat. Made for ZWT7 by a fellow Emerald City Shaker.

  2. Nice ice cold water with a hint of pineapple! I will be keeping this around to sip on these hot summer days. Thanks!

  3. The hint of pineapple is a nice change from the stander lemon ice water. Made only one minor change which was to cut pineapple into chunks instead of slices and did fallow your hint about cutting in half and making in a sun jar. Thanks for the post.

  4. I cut my pineapple into bug chunks. I wonder if cutting into wee bits so a little lands in your glass would be nice? probably not if you're the type to NOT like extra pulp OJ. ;) this is wonderfully refreshing & exactly as your note said - it is not juice and it's fabulous for adding more water to your diet if you don't like plain water. I wonder what the pineapple is like when the water is gone and also how many tines can you refill with water? I will let you know because there's a big pitcher in my fridge..... thanks, teammate! made for Emerald City Shakers ZWT7!

I just made another batch, forgetting I had made this 2 years ago! I love flavored waters but hate that most have sugar or sweetener added so this is a must have in the fridge! Made for ZWT9, Mike & the Appliance Killers.

  5. This recipe was submitted for ZWT Caribbean, and I almost didn't make it because I thought "how simple is that?" I am SO GLAD I didn't pass this one up! I'm ashamed to admit that I don't drink enough water. I hate it!!! But this has the subtle flavor of the pineapple which makes it very refreshing and yummy without being too sweet. I'm so tired of downing water with lime or lemon. This is a very welcome addition! Thanks so much for posting, Ingrid! Made for the Gourmet Goddesses, ZWT9.

I live near Seattle, WA with my husband of 11 years and our pet ferrets. We're lucky enough to own a home with a big, south facing yard which is great for entertaining. It also allows me to have a big vegetable garden where I grow most of my own herbs and a lot of the vegetables we eat in the summer, as well as a bunch to share with family and friends. In my professional life, I'm an accountant- but what I really love to do is cook and eat! Most of my ability is self-taught. I love to experiment with new recipes and techniques, most of which I get from watching way too much food tv and reading foodie magazines. Recently I decided to start a personal chef business and have cooked for a few clients. I love the challenge of designing a menu to fit a family's specific tastes and needs, and then cooking it for them to enjoy. For me, cooking is an expression of love. Everyone needs to eat, but food is more than just fuel for the body, it can nurture and comfort ~ give us a memory from childhood, or a retreat when we feel ill. I always think of the people who I'm cooking for when I make a dish, and there is no better compliment than when someone enjoys the food I've made especially for them. I also like to do OAMC- style cooking, but instead of using it mainly to get dinner on the table, I focus on getting lunch in the bag! Eating out is far too expensive in both dollars and nutrition to make a habit of, yet I want a hot, satisfying meal to enjoy in the middle of the day. Cookin ahead allows me to have great food, without sacrificing either my dollars or my waistline.
