"This is an old tattered recipe I found stashed inside one of my MIL's very old and falling apart recipe books. I had to try and I really liked it. It reminded me of Welsh Rabbit."

  • Melt butter in top of double boiler.
  • Blend in flour, onion, salt, dry mustard, Worcestershire sauce and cayenne.
  • Gradually stir in milk.
  • Cook over direct heat until smoothly thickened, stirring constantly.
  • Remove from heat and gradually stir in tomato juice.
  • Place over hot, not boiling, water and add cheese.
  • Stir constantly until cheese is melted.
  • Serve on toast, with a tossed salad.
