Pizza Potatoes

"I found this recipe years ago, from Betty Crocker, I think. My boys really loved it! Even though they are grown now, they still ask for it. It is so simple and gives you that "Pizza Kick"."

  1. I've made this recipe for over 25 yrs and was happy to see it posted here! It kicks up a box of scalloped potatoes nicely! My kids used to love this...and I loved the fact that it was easy to make!

  2. I made this once and potatoe dishes are always very popular at potlucks, this one was no exception. I passed this recipe on to my 84 yr old mother who took it to a neighborhood gathering and they judged this to be the best dish brought....she even won a nice prize. She came back and called me imediately with sheer excitment in her voice....for that reason alone it deserves a 10 rating. Your dish became part of our family history.....:)

  3. These potatoes are pretty good. The recipe didn't say what kind of tomatoes to use, so I used diced tomatoes. I waited until the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking to add the pepperoni and cheese since I didn't want the cheese to get too brown. I think it was a good decision! My only complaint it that it is a bit too salty for my taste.

  4. My husband really has enjoyed this recipe for over 30 years. I did add 1/2 pound of ground sausage. Cook and drain sausage before adding to the potatoes.

  5. I'm not rating this recipe as I haven't tried it yet. But the copy I have is a bit different. It says to add 1/2 lb ground beef, Italian sausage or pepperoni (I use some of it all sometimes). It also calls for 1 T Italian spices, and 1/4 t garlic powder. The bake time is different too it says to bake on 350 for 30 then top with the cheese return to the oven for 5 more minutes. Overall this sounds yummy and I plan to have this soon. Thanks for posting! Christine (internetnut)

One of my passions (after my husband, 2 sons and their families) is cooking, from simple things to gourmet. I get great pleasure out of pleasing my family and they return the favor to me. We do a lot of family things together, but probably our favorite is going camping, getting a little grubby and doing alot of trout fishing. Both of my sons, my brother and myself love to cook (even when we are camping) so everyone around us eats quite well. We have gotten into Dutch Oven cooking when we are on these trips. It's a lot of fun and everything tastes so good! But when you're out in the fresh air, even burnt hot dogs are great. My greatest hobby, the past few years, is making personalized cook books for my closest friends and family. Everyone seems to enjoy them and I add recipes to them every day. I started with a volume for myself, because I got tired of trying to remember which cook book a recipe was in....it has increased to five volumes and will soon be six. I have done the same for them, too, and enjoy every minute of it.
