  1. Fun food for the kids - ran short on mozz chz so used 1 cup montery with jalapeno. Nice snack

  2. These were just okay for us. Something about the seasonings made my hamburger meat taste more like sausage after coming out of the oven. That's not a bad thing considering we like sausage, but it was just unexpected. My first batch was charcoal after 20 minutes; I had to reduce cooking time to 14. I can see where these could be a kid-pleaser, but I'm not sure I'll try them again. Thank you, though!

  3. I make something similar to this. It's called Stromboli. Everything is the same except that I don't slice before cooking, just cook the roll as a loaf of bread on a cookie sheet, approx 30-40 min at 325. This can be used for any ingredients, Ive tried it with ham and cheese with vegetables and scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese whatever ingredients you used, remember the cheese,it acts as a binder and holds everything together

  4. Great idea! I ended up using fresh pizza dough from the Publix bakery. As one reviewer suggested, I spread olive oil on the dough and rubbed fresh garlic, italian seasoning and fresh parsley over it. I then topped with chopped onions, fresh mushrooms, sandwich style pepperoni and italian blend shredded cheese. I sprayed my pan with Pam and brushed the visible dough areas with more olive oil. Baked for about 25 min. I didn't use any red sauce when I ate one out of the oven and it was great! I like both white pizza and red pizza, but will definitely make the sauce next time to see the difference. Thanks for posting!

  5. I took these to church last night for a fellowship and they were gone in a flash. I was low on time, so I used Pillsbury Italian bread in the can. I did not have time to brown any meat so I used pepperoni. I drizzled olive oil on the dough, then pepperoni, seasonings, and then cheese. I baked then for 15-20 minutes at 350. The pepperoni tastes great and is a quick option when low on time. Thanks for the recipe!

Tweaks

  1. I made these for supper tonight and will definitely be making them again! I did tweak the recipe a little-I put a light layer of pizza sauce on before rolling up and I used mini pepperoni instead of hamburger. I can see loads of possibilities :-) Thanks so much for the recipe!

  2. Despite my lack of experience with dough (I NEVER bake), this turned out well! I didn't roll it thin enough so it made less than 24 and they were huge, but they looked neat and we liked them. I used sausage (a little under a pound) and added some chopped spinach (from frozen). I also used some extra seasoning (onion and garlic powders) and subbed some of the mozzarella for parmesan cheese. My husband still said they seemed to be missing "something." I guarantee I'll try these again!

  3. I made this recipe the other night. It had the potential of being very yummy, but the cooktime didn't work with my oven and ours got burnt! They were okay when they were warm, but we couldn't eat any of them after they cooled because they were too hard. I'd recommned watching them closely while cooking. We used Prego spaghetti sauce instead of tomato paste (to dip it in). I also had the issues with the bread dough being way too sticky and the contents of the rolls falling out. I will definitely try the recipe again and watch the cooking time carefully. Thank you for posting!

  4. i've been making these for years and the kids love them. I use sausage instead of hamburger and have started using pepperoni and other toppings as well. I use pizza a sauce for dipping. Unfortunatly these never make it to the freezer. The four kids and I polish them off too fast. THey are great for nights when we need to eat at the ballpark in the summer.

  5. I have to make a double batch when I make this for the family for dinner. I use Italian sausage instead of hamburger and press pepperoni into the dough before spreading the mixture onto it. IT is great and can easily be adapted to any topping choices!

I live in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to run into Recipezaar around Nov. 2000 and got hooked quickly. I am a cookbook collector and have been collecting recipes for as long as I can remember. My DH had to build in shelves for all my cookbooks! I like to dabble with OAMC and for a few years hosted the Budget/OAMC forum with some great people over there. Even though I don't work in the forum any longer I've set up a lot of cookbooks for the purpose of OAMC and stretching food that might be helpful. Please feel free to check them out! I go on food jags and cooking jags! Please come say hi to me and chat on facebook. I currently host a blog for saving money through finding deals and coupons if you are interested. Most of the time I try to cook and have a good dinner on the table but I'll be honest enough to say there is still fast food occasionally in the budget! I have had such wonderful support here whenever I need it. Thank you all for being here! Just a quick note on how I rate recipes: ? 5 stars - This recipe is perfect. (My DH is truly a critic and doesn't give 5's unless it's amazing) I would recommend it to others and would definitely make again. ? 4 stars - This recipe was good but I would change something in it next time. ? 3 stars - This is a recipe I would not make again but it was OK ? 2 stars - This recipe I would not make again and we didn't like it at all ? 1 star - This recipes did not work out/taste was unappealing and wouldn't make again
