Pork Chops Smothered in Cream of Mushroom

"I was trying to figure out what way I could fix the pork chops and then I thought about using the mushroom soup and adding onions and mushroom pieces into the dish and then I just put them into the oven and let them bake a little bit and then I served them with mashed potatoes and whatever else I was wanting to add to the side dishes. This is a really easy recipe to follow and use."

Reviews

  1. This recipe was easy to make, and very satisfying to the old tastebuds. There is certainly enough sauce left over to use as a gravy on mashed potatoes.

  2. Season the pork chops with a bunch of fresh chopped rosemary to punch of the flavor. Rosemary cream sauce is a natural for pork. 2.) fresh garlic finely minced and 1 cup of sliced crimini mushrooms ( baby portabella) the little brown mushrooms. cook the mushrooms with the garlic season with salt and pepper deg-lace with a little white wine add the mushrooms to the sauce going over the pork chops. Cambels cream of mushroom soup about 3 bucks is specifically designed for these type dishes. last mash potatoes works fine better than plain old rice. A classic mash and a fry Irish meal great for a cold winter evening meal.

  3. One CRITICAL piece of information was left out. COVER the dish before baking. This steams the chops. You end up with boot leather if you don't. Still a good dish but...

  4. This was so yummy and easy!!! I have to admit though, I was being a bit lazy and decided to for go the whole baking in the oven. I decided to use the same ingredients but I used one pan. I decided to leave it on the stove for 30 minutes on simmer and it was delicious!! Thanks you, i will make it again for sure!

  5. Great idea, Sugar Ivie. Thank you. As we are only two, I used two bone-in chops and rubbed black pepper and garlic into them. Only used one can of Campbell's Mushroom and Garlic soup and 1/3 cup 2% milk. Did add a few fresh mushrooms, and I did use red onions. Very, very tasty! If I had my druthers, I would have settled for the mashed potatoes with the gravy - Mmmmm. I am not much of a meat eater (except for ground beef), but you really do need the meat to get the wonderful flavour. I served the chops with mashed potatoes, home-grown cole slaw, garlic dills and rye bread. Great meal. Thanks.

Tweaks

  1. These were delicious... however, I had 1/3 of a pork loin that I cut into 1 inch thick boneless chops, I seasoned them with Herbes de Provence, salt and pepper. I also sauteed the purple onion with fresh mushrooms and poured them over the chops before adding the soup mixture. I served them over a bed of white rice and a side of steamed broccoli. Best dinner I've made in quite a while ??

  2. I just wanted to say we grew up with this dish and its awesome the things we do different is we use loin chops for more flavor. We dont brown them first, and we cut up potatoes and slice our onions on the larger side.350 degrees for about an hr give or take. Enjoy

  3. Can you use 1 can of mushrooms for this recipe?

  4. I add about 2 to 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce

  5. Delicious and easy. I substituted a can of cream of celery soup for one of the mushroom soups.
