Portuguese Cinnamon Wreaths

  • 1 cup butter, softened (or margarine)
  • 34 cup sugar (remove 2 Tablespoons of sugar & set aside)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 34 teaspoon salt
  • 14 cup sherry wine
  • 14 teaspoon cinnamon

  • Cream together butter and all but 2 Tablespoons of the sugar.
  • Add egg yolks, one at a time and beat until light.
  • Add sifted flour and salt alternately with sherry, mixing well.
  • Fill cookie press with dough and press out each wreath onto ungreased or parchment lined cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes.
  • Combine the cinnamon with the reserved 2 tablespoons sugar and sprinkle warm cookies with the mixture.

  1. Maybe it was the combo of sherry & cinnamon, who knows, but these were great tasting cookies! I was gonna share them with a group I hoste each month, but after tasting the first 5 or 6, I decided to keep them all right here at home! VERY, VERY NICE, & a keeper of a recipe! Hi! I am happily married with two children, 26 and 12. For nearly 10 years when this site was Recipezaar and then Food.com I hosted several different forums. I enjoyed making, creating, reviewing, and photographing recipes, but what I miss the most are the friendships I made here. I was Food Editor for the Mill Creek View Newspaper in Mill Creek, WA. for about 4 years during that time. Currently I am the office manager at a small mental health clinic. I'm not on this site much anymore, but I do continue to appreciate and respond to all reviews posted to my recipes.
