Potsie's Famous Fried Bolony Sandwich

"I was raised on fried bolony sandwiches. I remember eating a simple version while strapped to my booster seat as a little boy. I outgrew my booster chair many years ago and I have modified the ingredients for a more adult palette... but I still love a fried bolony sandwich."

directions

  • It ain't rocket science or quantum physics. Just make the sandwich.
  • Tip: score the balony slices with a knife and they won't curl up when frying. I like to fry them until they are just a little blackened but still plenty greasy. If the grease doesn't drip down your arm and off your elbows then you have overcooked it.

  1. Potsy, we had the same sandwich when I was a kid long ago. Mom fried the boloney with some onions, then added some ketchup, and let it all get warm. We probably had it on Wonder bread! No tomato though. Cheap meal! And no chips, not sure they even had chips back then! This brought to mind: when the cheap donuts( that came in the long box) got stale, Mom would split them in half across and saute them in butter. Good times!

  2. I made this sandwich last week, and due to glitches in the site, I have been trying to review it since then. Now on with the review, I've been making balony sandwiches for a long time( longer than I care to admit) and have never made them with sliced onion. And I have to tell you this sandwich is " True Redneck Comfort Food ",the only thing missing is an RC Cola. Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling :) "

  4. Fantastic! This is also how I make a grilled cheese. I fry the bologna, assemble the sandwich with American Cheese (NOT that Kraft yellow stuff, the REAL stuff, the white one, from the Deli). Then grill the whole shebang till GB&D. I like to serve with thousand island dressing as a dipping sauce.

  5. Love it! I asked DH if he wanted one, and he said no - when I started making it, he changed his mind and then raved about it LOL I've never made it exactly this way before, but I'll definitely make it again this way!! Thanks for sharing!
