Potsie's White Trash Dirty Martini

"What makes a classy martini become white trash? A pickled pod of okra instead of an olive, of course. I came up with this 10 years ago when I was out of olives and then noticed a jar of pickled okra in the fridge. A local bar that I frequent began making them for me and now it's very popular there."

  1. My favorite drink is any GIN Martini and this one is lovely; didn't have the pickled okra and not sure I'd like that, but even without it's smooth and pleasing after a busy day. Thanks Pots - you're the best

  2. A Wednesday without a martini is like a day without... well, a martini. But I was out of olives, and didn't know what to do. After all, when a martini doesn't have a garnish it's really just a shot of chilled vodka (I skip the Vermouth). But you, Potscrubber, just saved me. I canned pickled okra last fall and needed to use it up. This is perfect, and delish!!! I think I love you.

  3. Surfing through for an original martini blend this one caught my eye and that of my Son-in-law. We had the fixing and they were a big hit.

  4. This recipe was right on time. I just had to try it. On my last visit to the liquor store, they had home canned Spicy Pickled Okra on the counter by the checkout. I asked my buddy that works there all about it, and he said that several customers had requested it. It is home canned from homegrown Okra, by a lady that lives here in the Florida Panhandle area bout 15 miles south of the AL line. I bought a jar for the next time we have Bloody Mary's, but when I saw this recipe, just had to try it. What a great Martini, the spicy okra gave it some zip, but wasn't overpowering. I will be making these on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing this recipe!!!!
