  1. Melt shortning in saucepan over low heat.
  2. Remove from heat and mix in sugar egg and vanilla.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  4. Spread in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  5. Bake 25 minutes at 350°F.
  6. While warm, cut into squares.
