directions

  • Juice prickly pears with a juicer. Discard pulp, use for compost or feed to some animals.
  • Don't have a juicer? Cut prickly pear in half and scoop insides into a blender or food processor and puree. You can add a little water if you need to in order to get it moving.
  • Pour juice into an ice cube tray and freeze.
  • Pour 8 ounces of cold water into a glass and add ice cubes. Add 1 or 2 of these pretty ice cubes to the glass and drink to your good health!

  1. I am so impressed. I always have problems snacking around 3:00. I made these ice cubes and started sipping water with them in it around 2:00 and I honestly felt more in control of my appetite. I don't have a juicer so I used my blender and that worked fine. The gret news is that I have plently left for the next few days. It also helped me to drink my water. Thanks Mama. This is truely one of the best things I have found on zaar.

  2. Got some prickly pears in my bountiful basket and didn't know what to use them for as have never had them before. I did this to them and use them in smoothies. WOW what a great energy booster!!!

  3. I got several prickly pears in a Bountiful Basket and after trying them wasn't a real fan. To be honest, this recipe appealed to me based on ease of not only preparation, but getting them used up before they went bad. I'm not sure if I felt my appetite was tamed, but I did notice my energy level pick up. I have to say I held my breath while sipping, the flavor and sent of prickly pear isn't appealing to me. I have a feeling I may have tossed them if I hadn't tried this. Thanks for posting.
