  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, oil and sugars. Beat in eggs, vanilla and dry pudding mix.
  2. Combine the flour, cream of tartar and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  3. Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with bottom of a glass dipped in table sugar.
  4. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
