  • Stir warm water and sugar together in small bowl.
  • Sprinkle yeast over top.
  • Let stand 10 minutes.
  • Stir to dissolve yeast.
  • Measure molasses, butter, salt, caraway seed and hot water in large bowl.
  • Stir.
  • Cool to lukewarm.
  • Add rye flour and cocoa.
  • Beat to mix thoroughly.
  • Add yeast mixture.
  • Stir.
  • Add about 1/2 of the all-purpose flour.
  • Mix.
  • Work in enought remaining flour until dough pulls away from sides of bowl.
  • Turn out onto a floured surface.
  • Knead 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  • Cover with tea towel.
  • Let stand in warm place until doubled in bulk.
  • Punch dough down.
  • Divide dough into 2 equal portions.
  • Shape into round balls.
  • Place onto greased baking sheets.
  • Cover with tea towel.
  • Let stand in warm place until doubled in size.
  • Bake in 375 oven for about 30 minutes.
