- 4 eggs
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1⁄2 teaspoon clove
- 1⁄4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Icing
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1⁄4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Using an electric mixer at medium speed, combine the eggs, sugar, oil, vanilla, and pumpkin until light and fluffy.
- Stir together the flour, baking powder, spices, salt and baking soda.
- Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and mix until thoroughly combined and smooth.
- Spread batter into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
- To make frosting, combine the cream cheese and butter in a bowl with mixer until smooth. Add the sugar and mix until combined. Add vanilla and mix again. Spread onto cooled cake.
