  1. Using an electric mixer at medium speed, combine the eggs, sugar, oil, vanilla, and pumpkin until light and fluffy.
  2. Stir together the flour, baking powder, spices, salt and baking soda.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and mix until thoroughly combined and smooth.
  4. Spread batter into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely before frosting.
  7. To make frosting, combine the cream cheese and butter in a bowl with mixer until smooth. Add the sugar and mix until combined. Add vanilla and mix again. Spread onto cooled cake.
