  1. Cream together 1 cup of butter, sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, pumpkin, eggs, and salt.
  2. Sift flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture.
  3. Bake at 300 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. For frosting, combine remaining butter, milk, and brown sugar in a saucepan.
  5. Boil 2 minutes, stirring constantly, then let cool.
  6. Stir in powdered sugar and remaining vanilla. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  7. Frost cookies with the frosting.
