Quaker Homemade Oat Treats

"I found this in a Quaker Oats flyer - it's so delicious!! I'm curious to try it again as the first time I made it, it didn't stick together in bars as I expected, it was more granola-y in clumps, but I have to try it again to make sure my measurements were correct. It's so delicious, a co-worker who doesn't like granola actually asked for the recipe because she liked it so much! I did use dried blueberries instead of the raisins."

  1. These really are delicious! I see what you mean about clumping instead of bar-ing, so I played with the mixture a little bit to see if I could make them hold together. I made half a batch, and to that I added one egg and a bit of extra water and pressed it into a 9-inch pie pan. DS had a great time helping me pour in all the dried fruit, which for us became a mishmash of odds and ends we wanted to use up. The end product held up pretty well in bars, though next time I will make them in a square pan for ease of cutting. Thanks for posting a great toddler-friendly snack! Made for Veg*n Swap #20.

I'm a now vegan who used to make one heck of a souvlaki. I love cooking, I was a huge fan of Moosewood and Molly Katzen prior to going vegan (although that has nothing to do with my choosing the name Katzen - that's just what my German Grandma has called me all my life.) Aside from cooking, I also love scuba diving, cycling, politics, and reading.
