Quick and Dirty Orange Cooking Liqueur

"RSC#9 calls for Grand Marnier or Cointreau. Those are a little steep on my budget so I needed a way to get a reasonable-sized supply of a decent substitute. This lacks the depth and nuance of the real stuff so I wouldn't use it in a recipe where it would be the main flavor, but in among half-a-dozen other ingredients it works."

  • Mix the juice and zest of the orange with the vodka and sugar in a clean jam jar or similar container.
  • Seal the lid tightly and shake until the sugar is dissolved.
