"From The Mennonite Treasury of Recipes. The raisins are rich in potassium, and this recipe is a good way to add it to your family's diet. I have written delicious beside it in my cookbook, and not too many get such a high rating. I hope it will become one of your favorite desserts as well."

  • For the batter: Rub butter into dry ingredients.
  • Add raisins (I never chop them).
  • Add milk to make a soft dough.
  • Pour into buttered pan.
  • For the Sauce: Mix dry ingredients.
  • Pour boiling water over and stir until dissolved.
  • Add butter, salt and vanilla.
  • Pour over batter slowly.
  • Bake 350 for about 1hr.
