  1. EXCELLENT RECIPE!! I tweeked it just a little bit though by adding 1/2 tsp of thyme, 1/2 tsp italian seasonings, pinch of crushed red pepper, 3 potatoes (halved) 1 lb. of carrots. Added couple Tbl of olive oil to large skillet, and browned rabbit pieces first then added rabbit to crock pot and poured sauce over meat. Added potatoes and carrots and cooked on low for 6 hrs.....was delicious!

  2. I only used 1 rabbit for the 2 of us, left everything else the same. This made the most delicious rabbit ever. The meat is falling off the bone tender and the sauce is divine! This will definitely be a repeat! Thanks Chuck!! ;)

  3. I loved the tomato base Chuck and the meat was wonderfully tender. I added potato and carrots to the sauce and near the end of the cooking time added a bit of flour to thicken the sauce. That made it into a great one pot meal.

  4. We have always had fried rabbit and did not care that much for the tomato base of this rabbit recipe. More garlic and rosemary might of helped. I used crushed roesmary leaves. The recipe was easy to make and the rabbit turned out very tender.

  5. Just one word to describe this recipe - Awesome. Extremely flavourful and easy to make. Suggest omitting the salt and pepper. The rest of the ingredients make up the bulk of flavour anyways. Signed: Hobby Chef The Wrench

Tweaks

  1. Excellent recipe, very tender and delicious. My 12-year-old son found this recipe for rabbits he is hunting. This is his favorite so far. We used chicken broth instead of wine, 5.5 oz. can of V8 instead of tomato sauce, and chopped tomatoes with Italian seasoning, omitted the thyme. Makes plenty of sauce, and fall off the bone rabbit that my son says tastes like chicken! :)

  2. Delicious Recipe!!! A+ I had to tweak it a bit because of what I had on hand. I used Hunts "Zesty Spicy" spaghetti sauce and instead of diced tomatos, I used Rotel diced tomatos and green chilis...the rest was the same. I was very pleased with how it turned out using some different variations of the ingredients out of neccessity. It had a kick to it because of the spicy items i used, but we like things spicy. The meat fell off the bone and even the kids raved about it. I will definitely make this again. Btw.....this was my first time trying rabbit and I'm not a big wild game eater. This passed the picky eater test. I will try to post a photo.

I’m over the hill and heading down the back side at a rapid rate it seems, single, and retired now. My loves? Good friends, most of all. After that I guess it would be wildlife and photographing it. In fact, I love anything that deals with wild animals and the outdoors. Then comes playing with my dog and making a mess trying to cook in the kitchen or around the fire pit, grill or smoker while enjoying a good tumbler of whiskey (whisky).
