Rachael Ray's Meatza Pizza Burgers

"These burgers will satisfy two cravings at once: a craving for Italian food and a burger craving. Perfect. I found them in Rachael Ray's book "30-Minute Meals," and I haven’t tried them yet, so tell me how they are!"

directions

  • Combine ground beef, tomato paste, chorizo or pepperoni, oregano, garlic, and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
  • Now it's time to cook the burgers. Ray's directions are for grilling: cook burgers for 5 minutes on each side over medium-high gas heat or charcoal. But I bet you can just pan fry them or pop them on an indoor grill.
  • In the last minute, melt a slice of provolone on each burger. Serve with romaine lettuce and slice tomato on crusty rolls.

  1. Very tasty burger that keeps together well. Yum!

  2. I added warmed pizza sauce to the bun. Next time I think I'll omit the tomato paste and double the cheese!! Very yummy!! There were no leftovers!

  3. Though a little on the dry side, these were still pretty good burgers. Easy to make, and definately not boring in flavor. I used only half a pound of hamburger (all I had at the moment) and just used a bit less of all the other ingredients by eyeballing them. I used my Forman grill for them and they did stick a little, but not enough to tear them apart, thankfully. I cooked mine about 5-7 minutes, I would recommend about 5 or less and keep and eye on them. All in all they turned out fairly well. As my husband said, they seem to be lacking something. Not sure what though, possibly pizza sauce or the like would add that finishing touch. Will probably try that next time. Thanks for posting though. I LOVE Rachael Ray. :)

I love to cook! I also love to take complicated recipes and make them simpler. Who wouldn't like to have fewer pans to wash?
