Rainbow Toast

"This is a recipe I use in my preschool classroom-- always a big hit! I have included a no-cook version as well."

  • For each serving

  • 1 slice bread (white or lightest brown works best)
  • milk, as needed
  • food coloring, as needed
  • cinnamon sugar

  • In small bowls or mugs, combine the milk and food coloring to make desired colors. Set aside.
  • For each serving, use clean paint brushes or cotton swabs to "paint" a design onto the bread with the colored milk. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and toast in a preheated oven (350 degrees) or toaster oven until lightly browned.
  • For a no-cook version, substitute the milk with sweetened condensed milk and omit the cinnamon sugar.

I am a preschool teacher in Florida, here since marrying my hubby in Sept of '04. I have a stepdaughter. No kiddos of our own unless you count those with fur :-) We have 2 cats and 2 dogs who think they are cats. We are inovoled with our church and with our local American Legion post, where I cook breakfast once a month for the community, so I am always looking for new and fun breakfast/brunch ideas.
