ingredients
- 2 cups raisins
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 1⁄2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon clove
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 cup walnuts, chopped
directions
- Boil raisins in water for 10 minutes.
- Cream together shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Sift together dry ingredients.
- While raisins are still hot blend into sugar mix.
- Blend in flour mixture to sugar raisin mixture.
- Drop cookies on baking sheets.
- Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes on greased sheet.
