“Ramen noodles are fully cooked before they go in the package, so they can be eaten as a snack, or as a crispy topping or base. In this "ramen hack," the noodles take the place of french fries. Yes, real poutine uses cheese curd, not shredded cheese; if you have a source, feel free to use it. The ramen flavor is irrelevant, since you won't use the seasoning packet for this one. Adapted from a post at Serious Eats.”

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 1 (3 -4 ounce) package ramen noodles, any flavor
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 12-1 cup beef gravy
  • 2 -4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar)

  1. Crush the ramen in the package until only small pieces are left. Carefully open the package and discard the seasoning packet.
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet until shimmering. Add the crushed ramen and cook, stirring frequently, until noodles begin to brown and get very crispy.
  3. Transfer ramen to an oven-safe single-serving dish. Top with gravy and cheese, then broil until cheese melts. Serve with beer.
