  • Mix all ingredients for the base and put into greased 8X8 pan.
  • Spread jam over base.
  • Mix the topping together well and spread over jam.
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Cool and cut into squares.

  1. These were really good..You can make them as sweet as you want by the amount of jam you use. I had everything to make them and was delighted with the results. Very quick to put together and many options for the jam filling. Those grandmas always knew best.
     
  2. I think this old square recipe has been overlooked and that is sad. I made it for years and it was always popular. Even now our grown daughter still requests it. Rather than using jam I sometimes use lemon curd which makes them less sweet. Can't go wrong with this little gem.
