  1. Cake:
  2. sift together flour, sugar, and salt -- mix well.
  3. in a saucepan, bring to a boil butter , shortening, water and cocoa.
  4. pour over dry ingredients and sugar mixture.
  5. in another bowl beat eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla.
  6. add to other mixture and mix well.
  7. bake in greased and floured sheet cake pan @350 20-25 minute.
  8. icing:
  9. mix butter, cocoa, milk in a saucepan. heat over low heat but do not boil. remove from heat.
  10. and add sugar, nuts, and vanilla -- mix well.
  11. frost cake as soon as it's baked. pour over cake -- yum.
