  • Mix rhubarb and 1/2 cup sugar; set aside. Cream shortening, sugar, and egg. Mix and add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Add vanilla and rhubarb mix. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan. Bake at 350* for about 35 minute Good with cream cheese frosting.
