  1. Preheat the oven to 370.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Sift again.
  3. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually; cream together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add unbeaten eggs and beat thoroughly; add vanilla.
  5. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, stirring only enough after each addition to blend thoroughly.
  6. Pour into 2 greased pans (8x8 or round 8" pans).
  7. Bake for 25 minutes.
