Rollkuchen

"A Mennonite recipe, sort of like doughnuts. If you can get it, home rendered lard works the best to fry it. Traditionally served with watermelon. It is a perfect snack for a picnic!"

  1. This recipe went together easily, was fun to make and the dough puffed up beautfully when fried. However, I found the instructions to be somewhat unclear ~ I did not know how thick to roll the dough or what temperature for frying. I searched on Google and did find a recipe that explained the dough thickness and frying temperature. I opted to fry in lard rather than vegetable oil. We found these to be good, but somewhat bland. Made for Fall 2011 Pick A Chef.
