Ingredients Nutrition


  1. preheat the oven to 180c/350f/gas 4 if baking. heat half the oil in a large casserole dish. tip in the steak(chopped small) or mince. turn quickly till brown.
  2. lower heat. add rest of oil onion, garlic chillies and coriander. cook for a few minutes until soft.
  3. add the beans tomatoes, tomato puree, sugar, stock or water and the cinnamon stick. stir. and bring to boil.
  4. reduce heat. cover. simmer very gently for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. add a splash of water if needed.
  5. add the pepper and stir. cover and simmer it gently for 40 minutes.
  6. taste. season with salt and a squeeze of lime.
