“So Simple! White rice, peas, onion, heavy cream, good cheese, fresh thyme (is a must), salt and pepper. The secret is the heavy cream, cheese and lots of fresh ground black pepper. Now, I even make it easier and use a couple of "boil in bag" rice - but, use whatever kind you want. This just makes a creamy nice side dish. It is my sons favorite and he asks for it all the time. I have even used that "leftover carton" from chinese take-out for this dish too. It is easy quick but really good.”

  1. Rice -- Use whatever method you want and whatever type of rice you want for this dish - that is not what is important. You want around 3 cups. A little more is fine, this isn't an exact recipe.
  2. Sauce -- As the rice cooks, heat up the cream, shallot, and cheese in a small bowl or measuring cup in the microwave for just 1 minute on medium heat.
  3. Finish -- Add the warm sauce to the cooked rice along with the fresh thyme, salt and pepper. Mix well to combine. If you want it a bit creamier, add more cream. NOTE: I just like to heat the cream first, just a few seconds in the microwave, so it is warm when I add it to the rice.
  4. Serve -- Garnish with a little cheese if you want and serve. It goes with just about anything. ENJOY!
