"This is my favorite meal of all time! I got the recipe from my husband, who got it from his mom. She was Dutch-Indonesian and this was one of her family's favorites. It also works with chicken."

directions

  • Slice meat into 1 inch squares, set aside.
  • MARINADE:

  • In large bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. Add meat, and knead marinade into the meat. Cover and let stand at room temperature for a minimum of one hour. Refrigerate if marinating longer.
  • Place meat pieces on skewers, barbecue until meat is cooked. They are thin pieces of meat so it shouldn’t take too long. Remember to turn frequently.
  • Serve over bed of rice with peanut sauce.
  • PEANUT SAUCE:

  • In saucepan, melt peanut butter and butter while stirring over low heat. After peanut butter is melted, add soy sauce and lemon juice, a little at a time to obtain the desired taste. After mixture is peanutty yet tart, you can add some salt and pepper to enhance the taste. Add the shallots.
