  1. Butter the bottom of a 9X13-inch baking pan.
  2. Melt 1 stick butter in a saucepan.
  3. Remove from heat and add sugar and blend.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
  5. Stir in vanilla, flour and baking powder.
  6. Mix thoroughly.
  7. Add nuts and stir lightly.
  8. Pour into pan.
  9. Bake at 350F for about 30 minutes.
  10. Do not overbake.
  11. Cool in pan and cut into bars.
