Sausage Con Queso Dip

"This appetizer can be as made hot as you like it by adjusting the number of peppers. I have never taken it anywhere without being asked for the recipe. I serve it in a small crock pot to keep it warm. This makes a large amount and it freezes well. I hope you enjoy it!"

  1. OMG so good... and pretty easy. I halved the recipe since their are only 2 of us and even at that there is alot of dip. I was a bit concerned about the mushroom soup but I tasted it before and after - definately better after adding it. Thanks for a great afternoon snack.

  2. This recipe is pretty easy and is quite good. We cut this recipe in half and still have enough to freeze. Switching from Velveeta to Queso Fresco as the cheese was also a big win.

  3. I made this recipe and put it in the crockpot for my husband to take to his office for a Halloween potluck. He just had to turn it on and heat on low for 2 hours, stirring after one hour. Well, I never got to taste it , but he said it was a hit and he got asked for the recipe multiple times. It does make a ton and I like that. Thanks GaylaV for a great recipe!

  4. I only eat this type of dip about once a year, but when the craving hits...I just have to give into it. I had something very similar to this at a party and the person who brought it said her recipe had mushroom soup in it, so I was eager to try this one. It was identical to hers. Has a very nice kick to it. I used one can of Rotel tomatoes w/ habaneros and one can of plain diced tomatoes and it was perfect. Served with warmed, cut-up tortillas. I could take a bath in this stuff. Worth not having any dinner just so I could give into the craving!

  5. Very yummy recipe, Gayla! I halved the recipe, but still used 5 jalapenos! Plus I added a little bit of cumin and fresh cilantro. Mixed everything in the crockpot, and it turned out fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing! Made for ZWT5 for Saucy Senoritas.

  1. I am such a sucker for recipes like this! Good thing I can't diet right now! Since we were feeding this to kids we used only 3 jalapenos and mild salsa. Also, DH hates mushrooms so we used cream of celery instead. I think I'll take another reviewers suggestion of trying sour cream next time. Thanks for a great Christmas party hit!

  2. This was fantastic. I served it at a cookout and everyone loved it. I used 2% velveta and turkey sausage. I halved the recipe and used 1/2 cup FF sour cream instead of mushroom soup. I also used Rotel tomatoes.
