Sauteed "Breaded" Mushrooms

"This is a simple side dish that my family has been preparing since I was a wee-one. Traditionally served with steak, but I find this a wonderful side with chicken and rice, as I do not eat red meat. If you are a mushroom-lover, you will love this dish!"

  1. My first husbands' great-aunt used to make this dish for every family pot luck, and there were MANY!! I always thought this was a family recipe that died with her! I made this recently - and I'm thrilled that it's Aunt Lee's exact recipe!! Absolutely divine!! Adding this to my recipe book to pass it on!

  2. Amazing! This was so easy, and so good. Made as directed, but scaled it down for 1 lb of mushrooms. Ate them all myself! (In my defense, no one else in my house likes mushrooms.)

  3. Woohoo! Mushroom overload! Loved this! I think the recipe is too large for just 4 servings as there was still lots left after supper. 2/3 cup of bread crumbs was too much here. I think I'll lower it to 1/2 cup next time. Yum!

  4. Delicious mushrooms! I quartered my mushrooms instead of slicing them. When they were done, I tossed in about a tbsp of shredded parmesan cheese. Great side dish for mushroom lovers. Thanx for sharing....I will make these often.

  5. I halved this recipe as only I eat mushrooms around here. This a fast and easy dish to prepare, and tastes fantastic! I added just a splash of white wine as the mushrooms were sauteeing and when I added the bread crumbs I cooked it longer than the recipe states as I wanted the crumbs very crispy. The extra time paid off! I couldn't finish it all at one sitting, so I reheated some the next day...and they were barely soggy at all! LOVE IT!!! I will be making this again for sure.

I am a single gal, living on my own; currently working as an Occupational Therapist & living in Cumberland, MD. (It is "God's Country" out here...beautiful!) I LOVE to cook and bake, and love anything that looks, tastes, smells, or even closely resembles a veggie. I LOVE moo-cows, and therefore, cannot bring myself to eat any part of the adorable critters (i.e. NO RED MEAT!!) I love the outdoors, and pride myself on being the master griller on the fire pit. My mother's side of the family is 100% Polish, so I have an inborn passion for cooking...unfortunately, along with that comes a love of eating, too!! But, hey..u only live once, so I say "EAT, DRINK, and BE MERRY!!!"
