  • In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, onion, and red pepper flakes and saute for 2-3 minutes on medium until slightly soft.
  • Add the beans, parsley, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Increase heat to medium high and cook for about 4-5 minutes. While they are cooking, mash about half of the beans with a fork until they reach the consistency that you prefer.
  • If you would like, you can garnish with some additional olive oil and ground pepper.

  1. I didn't add the flakes because we really don't do spicy and I had to leave out the rosemary simple because I hadn't anymore. But I love that I have found another recipe for the beans other then bean soup. Lol

  2. My family loved these. The recipe is great the way it is but I added a little bit of white wine as well.

  3. I'm notorious for tweaking recipes, so of course that's what I did. I cooked the onion first, adding the garlic toward the end of the 2 minutes, along with cilantro, rather than parsley (I don't care for it). I love spicy food but decided to try it first without the red chili flakes. I didn't mash any of the beans. I also left out the rosemary and black pepper, instead adding a little garlic powder. We loved it I'm sure it's good either way. I'll try it with the chili next time.

  4. This is quick and easy to make but we thought the beans were just too hot for us. I put some sour cream on top of them to try and cool them off but even that didn't help. If you don't mind really hot food you might like it. Mashing the beans made them look too mushy for my taste. Made for Photo Tag cooking game.

  5. Delicious pot of beans and super easy to make. Healthy, as well. Husband has already asked me to make them again. Thanks and congrats on your Football Pool win.

Tweaks

  1. Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!!! These beans are so spicy and tasty that they were a hit with everyone! I had to make some slight changes due to what I had on hand, but the recipe came out super duper great nonetheless! I used fresh basil in place of parsley and big cannellini beans, cause Great Northern Beans are not known about here in Germany. THANKS SO MUCH for sharing your awesome recipe with us, breezer! Made and reviewed for Everyday Is A Holiday Decembre 09.

  2. These are great - so flavorful with very little effort. I omitted the salt (personal preference) and opted for some cilantro instead of parsley to pair it with enchiladas for dinner. Thanks for sharing!
