Scalloped Apples

"This is a recipe I got from a former co-worker. Everyone at the potluck lunch devoured the apples and wanted the recipe. It is very rich and it's definitely not low fat but for an occasional treat or for the holidays, it's fantastic. It can be served as dessert or as a side dish. ENJOY!!!"

  1. I made this for Easter dinner with ham and roasted chicken and everyone loved it. I cut the sugar down a wee bit and it was still delish! Grams called it an apple 'filling' and I think that was a good description too.

  2. Loved this recipe..oh so easy and also felt it was more like cobbler..served it with vanilla ice cream..will make again..Thanks

  3. Ooh, this was so yummy! I added a tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 tsp freshly ground nutmeg to the "batter", so this smelled like heaven as it baked. I used 4 Gala apples, peels left on, and sliced. Mine did not come out pudding-like, it was more the consistency of apple cobbler, and very very tasty. I'll definitely be making this again. Thanks! :)

  4. NOTE: Step one in the recipe mentions butter twice. I found this a little confusing even though it's probably just a simple typo. I made this recipe the other night for dessert, using 5 large apples (mixed variety, cored, peeled and chopped) that needed using up. Added a teaspoon of cinnamon and served it with vanilla ice cream. It was very tasty! A litte too pudding-like for DBF who said he'd like a more bread-like or doughy consistency. Didn't stop him from having seconds, though! :D

  5. Yum! Yum! Yum! This is a great recipe, especially around the holidays when it's ok to indulge!
