ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 4 -6 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten with
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • white sesame seeds

  • Marinate chicken cubes with egg yolk and salt for 15 minutes. Lightly dust chicken with cornstarch shaking off the excess. Add 3 tablespoons oil to a hot pan over high heat. Add the chicken and cook ove side until goldden brown, about 1 1/2 - 2 minutes. Turn the chicken over and cook until done. Add oil when needed.
  • Mix the sauce ingredients. Add sauce to pan. Stir until chicken is coated with the sauce thouroughly. Remove chicken onto a plate. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  • Serve with rice.

  1. Easy and tasty chicken recipe. I felt it tasted a little too starchy, but that may have been my fault. I employed the Shake & Bake method for adding the cornstarch (added minimum amount of cornstarch to a bag, and shook up all the chicken pieces). I happily cleaned up the leftovers the next day, though. I'll make this again, and I may experiment with the sauce. Maybe a diced fresh chili pepper? Made for PAC Spring '08
