  1. This makes a delicious and very attractive loaf of bread! This was my first experience making a monkey bread, and I was pleasantly surprised when I flipped it over and saw how pretty it looked. The time it took to thaw and rise was actually more like 3 1/2 hours than 2, though, so I was lucky I left myself plenty of time for that step. Then, just as it was about doubled in bulk, our power went out! I was mortified because I really had my heart set on making these and I wasn't sure what would happen if I didn't get them in the oven right away. I ended up sticking them in the fridge and then baking them 3 hours later when the power came back on. They had risen to well over twice their size, so I thought they were doomed, but they ended up turning out wonderfully nonetheless. I just had to share my experiences, but to make a long story short these are simple and tasty. Thanks for another good one, Heather.

  2. This bread turned out great and was a hit at the Christmas dinner I brought it to. The recipe is incredibly easy. I had a little trouble getting the seasonings to stick nicely, and next time I'll dip the dough balls in butter, roll them in the seasoning, then place them in the pan. I was glad I read the reviews, because it took nearly 4 hours before the dough had risen sufficiently. I think 2 hours might be possible in the summer, but if you're making this in cooler weather, definitely allow more time. The dough hadn't risen enough by the time we were due to leave for the party, but I put some blankets in the dryer to heat them up, and then created a warm tent in the back seat for the 45 minute drive to our friends' house. By the time we arrived, the dough was doubled and ready for the oven. Unfortunately, dinner was delayed so I popped the bundt pan and 2 additional loaf pans I used in the refrigerator for 2 hours then baked them as directed -- The bread turned out perfectly Thanks!

  3. Perhaps I have a cold house but it took over four hours for the dough to thaw and rise. I wanted to like this but we did not care for the flavour at all.

  4. This was wonderful!! I can't wait to make it again. Not only was it so, so simple (buying frozen rolls) -- but it was DELICIOUS! My husband and I ate half of it at one meal (not good)!!!! Just as happened to Kree, we had unexpected company about the time the bread should go into the oven and it had to stand another 1 1/2 hours. But it was just fabulous (by then the rolls had risen up to the top of the pan). Maybe that was a "good" thing. Thanks for the recipe. I hope others will try it.
