  1. You've got the right idea. My version has no bell pepper. I dice the celery fine, add sliced water chestnuts, sliced radishes, sliced black olives, and use Monterey Jack cheese. No Miracle whip, please. Not too much bacon here, also. I found that your recipe more closely resembled mine, and I find it to be the most delicious salad ever. It's addicting. Good job. I have more layers, but 7 layers is just a name.

  2. The best seven layer salad I have made. You can buy real bacon already cooked and chopped at the store. Make sure it is not the freeze dried bits......it will say real bacon on the bottle or package.

  3. My mom would make me this salad when we had guests over and it always wowed everyone. It's one of my fav's.

I have been a Central Illinois resident all my life. My hobbies include fishing with my husband, reading, counted cross stitch, and of course, cooking (especially baking)! I currently work in an office, behind a desk, pushing paper. My dream would be to open my own bakery. Spending time in the kitchen is very relaxing to me, and it keeps me connected to my domestic side!
