  • Make crumbs by combining flour, sugar and shortening.
  • Line pie pan with pastry.
  • Dissolve baking soda in hot water and combine with molasses.
  • Pour into shell.
  • Top with crumbs and bake at 350 degree s until firm.

  2. This is almost the same recipe from my mom's family in Lancaster Co. The only difference is we use butter instead of shortening, and add 1/2 to 1 tsp of cinnamon for the crumb mixture Yum!!
