Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Grease bottom of 9x13 cake pan.
  3. Line with waxed paper; grease and flour waxed paper.
  4. Beat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, shortening, 3/4 cup milk and vanilla until well blended.
  5. Beat in remaining milk and egg whites.
  6. Bake in prepared pans 30 minutes.
  7. Cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes; transfer to rack; peel paper and finish cooling.
  8. Frost as desired.
  9. Or serve with fresh strawberries and cream.
