Simple Syrup

"This can be used to sweeten all kinds of things. I use it most for tea and mixed drinks. Cheaper than buying the bottled stuff at the store AND can be flavored simply by adding some extract in the flavor you want for the finished product. I have added mint, orange and vanilla extracts just to name a few. Start with about 1/2 tsp and taste. Then add more if you desire."

  1. This great for Iced Tea. It adds a little extra dimension of flavor that you don't get with plain white sugar. Thanks for the great and easy recipe. I'm making a third batch right now as I always have Ice tea in the house.

  2. I have a few recipes in my "to do" folder requiring simple syrup, so I figured it was about time I made some! I saw Guy Fieri on the Food Network keep his in a clear plastic squirt bottle, so I got one yesterday at Walmart (for under $1) and I was good to go. I did add 1 tsp of Vanilla flavor and it is wonderful! Made for BEVY TAG (so that I can make some more bevy's). UPDATE: This is my favorite simple syrup recipe. . .I just made another batch and I can't wait to use it for some peach margaritas tonight!!!!

  3. Very good syrup! The brown sugar gives it a nice deep flavor that isn't overly sweet. I'm keeping mine in a squirt bottle too, which I find very convenient. Thank you for posting, mama. Made for Bevy tag.

  4. This is my first attempt at a syrup and it came out perfect. I love the flavour and have tried it with my tea and am amazed at the smoothness this gives it. Will use this as a dressing over a mixture of fruit adding the vanilla for that special extra touch. Thanks so much for posting this recipe.

  5. This is my first time making simple syrup. I'm glad I finally did. There are a few recipes I'm wanting to try calling for this. It made a lot more than what I thought or maybe I done something wrong. Anyhow it has great flavor. I can't wait to try it in my drinks. Edited: Made for Bevy Tag Nov 08 Thanks mama for posting this recipe. :0)~
