  1. Cut the florets off the heads of broccoli. Cut the stems into similar size pieces.
  2. Add all of the broccoli -- florets and stems -- into a pot of boiling, salted water. Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes until broccoli is tender.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and drain half of the water off into a separate container but do not discard it!
  4. Blend the broccoli and remaining water in the pan. Add more of the cooking liquid as necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
  5. Season and serve.
