Simple Vanilla Ice Cream

"This is such a simple, easy to make vanilla ice cream. My family has loved it for as long as I can remember. The original recipe came from the instruction sheet for my very first electric ice cream machine, and I've kept it, even though I'm now on my third machine. I recently made it for friends, after not having made any for about 5 years. There's no cooking. Time does not include churning time in the machine since each machine will be different, nor do the ingredients include the ice and salt for the machine. Use the best vanilla possible for the very best flavor."

  1. This was good but the texture came out a little less creamy than I thought it would...a little icy. Maybe because there is no heavy cream in it? I am not sure, but sometimes you have to give up creamy for less fat! Very quick and easy though, with little ingredients! Thanks for sharing!

  2. It was a 5 star with a couple changes. Everything was good except the salt. I only added 3/4 of a teaspoon and the taste was sooo salty. Not sure what happened. But I tried it again without salt and it was great. We added oreo's yummy!

  3. This is a very easy ice cream! What I did, because I wanted a richer ice cream I used 3 c. of whipping cream and 1 c. of 1/2 & 1/2. I also added 1 1/2 tablespoon vanilla. I love the ease of this recipe, Thanks so much for posting it! This will be my favorite Ice cream recipe. Next time I think I'll add a few chopped up canned peaches, along with some pureed peaches. There is so much you can do with this recipe!

  4. Great recipe. I was looking for ice cream without egg so I could make it now! I used a richer mix: 3 cups whipping cream, 1 cup 1% milk and added 1/8 tsp peppermint oil, and 1/4 c crushed peppermint candies. Thanks for the blueprint.
