Slice of Heaven Brownies

- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate
- 1⁄2 cup unsalted butter
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup sugar (don't use Splenda)
- 2 eggs
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with a 12 inch square piece of foil, shiny side up, pressing foil in place. Spray with oil.
- In a large, heavy saucepan, combine both chocolates and the butter. Melt over low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth.
- Remove from heat, stir in salt, vanilla, and sugar.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time until incorporated.
- Add flour and stir until the mixture is smooth and shiny, and comes away from the side of the pan, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the nuts.
- Spoon mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the surface.
- Bake in the bottom 1/3 of the oven for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let brownies cool completely in the pan and freeze for at least 1 hour, until firm.
- Cover the pan with a cutting board and turn out brownies.
- Gently remove foil and turn brownies right side up.
- Cut brownies using a thin, sharp knife.

<p>Aloha! I just recently started spending more time in the kitchen and am learning that cooking and baking can be fun as well as challenging. My favorite cookbook resources are my 'gourmet' sister and the very patient and generous Ohana of Zaar. Mahalo nui loa! <br /><br />My rating system: The first time I try a recipe, I follow the instructions as given; if I do a little tweaking, I keep that in mind when rating. It's not right to rate lower because of something I did or didn't do. <br />***** ... Excellent! Tasted great with/without tweaking. <br />**** ... Loved It! Tasted great with/without tweaking. <br />No stars ... May be an excellent recipe but I was unable to get it to work for me. May or may not try again later. We don't all have the same taste preferences. I've found recipes with lots of five stars that just didn't work for me and some with less that I thought were great. <br />Thank you All for sharing!</p>
