  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown hamburger, green pepper, and onion. Cook and drain all grease. Add the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve on buns.
  • I like to top with a slice of cheese before I put the top bun on.

  1. We loved this version of sloppy joe's. I used ground beef and made as written. I forgot the cheese but will try it next time. Thanks for sharing a recipe that I will use often. Made for Spring PAC 2012.

  2. Oh, my goodness. I will never ever use another sloppy joe recipe. This is the ONE!! Absolutely delicious. Easy fix with on hand ingredients. I've always used tomato soup in my sloppy joes but love the additional ingred in this recipe. Thank you so much for sharing a #1 recipe. My family is coming for a visit next weekend and I will definitely have these on the menu!

  3. Really nice sloppy joe with a couple of subtle twists in the flavor, probably the mustard and worcestershire sauce. It might help it to simmer for an hour as suggested, but our pan was empty by that time! Made for Pick A Chef October 2008.
