Slow Cooked Lasagna
"This has became a favorite of mine; just put it in the crockpot and forget about it for a few hours."

- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 (26 -28 ounce) jar pasta sauce
- 1 (8 ounce) can no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 8 uncooked lasagna noodles
- 1 (1 lb) jar alfredo sauce
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (12 oz.)
- 1⁄4 cup grated parmesan cheese
directions
- In large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until thoroughly cooked, stirring frequently. Drain.
- Spray 4 to 5-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Spread 3/4 cup of the tomato pasta sauce in bottom of sprayed slow cooker. Stir remaining tomato pasta sauce and tomato sauce into ground beef.
- Layer 3 lasagna noodles over sauce in slow cooker, breaking noodles as necessary. Top with 1/3 of the Alfredo pasta sauce, spreading evenly. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Top with 1/3 of the ground beef mixture, spreading evenly.
- Repeat layering twice, using 2 lasagna noodles in last layer. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over top.
- Cover; cook on Low setting 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 hours. If desired, cut into wedges to serve.

Our family loves lasagna but this was just ok. It certainly was fast. But the family found it to be bland. It needs onion or garlic when cooking the meat, definitely some spices like Italian Seasoning, salt and pepper. It was indeed quick to make and the noodles turned out well but the alfredo sauce didn't make it taste traditional like baked lasagna with ricotta. We wanted to love it. Thanks for posting Carolinafan. Maybe we are just traditionalists when it comes to lasagna :) -
This is a super simple alternative to "real" lasagna. We really enjoyed it- thanks! I have now made this several times and noticed that the only thing I consistently change is that I add onion and a little bit of salt and pepper when browning the meat- sometimes beef and sometimes turkey.

This recipe was easy enough to make and the flavor was really good but I have to admit that the noodles become almost a "doughy" texture. Cooked completely but not like regular boiled lasagna noodles. However, this dish did get better the next day and we enjoyed it even more. Great for a time pincher but I prefer traditional baked lasagna. -
I rarely give five stars, but I was amazed by this slow cooker lasagna. The flavor was excellent and it was so easy to put together. I accidentally bought no-boil lasagna noodles, but they worked just great. Just to save some 'fat grams' I may try it next time with low fat Alfredo sauce and ground turkey. I used my rectangular slow cooker, not a crock pot and it was the perfect size and easy to serve. Thanks Carolinafan! -
I've had this in my 'Saturday Night Supper' cookbook since it was published back in April/06 and I finally made it today. We loved it! I had to lighten it up some, due to my husband's heart stuff and so I used ground chicken and low-fat alfredo sauce and mozzarella cheese. It turned out wonderful, you'd never know that it was chicken instead of beef. It's not real pretty getting it out of the crockpot for serving, but, well, it all gets mixed up in the end, right? My husband and daughter loved it and I'll certainly be making this again. It's perfect for busy days and so easy to put together. Thanks for posting this recipe Carolinafan!

I am married and mother of 3 wonderful children. I have a 21 year old daughter and 19 year old twins, a boy and a girl. The picture above is of my granddaughter Destiny born April 5, 2007. She was a preemie and weighed 1 lb. 14 oz. at birth. She spent 73 days in NICU in the hospital She has came a long way and was 11 months and a little over 19 pounds when the picture was taken. She shows no problems at all now and is truly a miracle and I thank God for her. She is already Nana's little girl. I have a wonderful husband who is very honest with me about any dish I prepare. He is my best critic as I am sure most husbands tend to be. I love trying new recipes and love to cook. I love Taste of Home cookbooks. I like to do counted cross-stitch and recently I have rediscovered a lost love of mine; reading, especially mysteries. I can get lost in a good book for hours. Weather permitting my hubby and I like to ride on his Harley. Nothing like it! If I had a month off with no responsibilities I would travel. Love the beach!!! My dream is to retire and for my hubby and I to travel to all the places I would like to see.
