  1. in a bowl, combine the beef, 1/2 cup onion, salt and pepper.
  2. mix well.
  3. shape into 1 inch balls.
  4. in a large skillet over medium heat, brown meatballs with remaining onion.
  5. transfer to a 5 quart slow cooker.
  6. add the remaining ingredients.
  7. cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until heated through, stirring occasionally.
  8. discard bay leaves, before serving.
